The Minister of Interior, Major General Ibrahim Haidan, discussed today, Wednesday, with the US Ambassador to our country, Stephen Wagen, aspects of joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of combating terrorism, organized crime and law enforcement.
During his meeting with the US ambassador in the city of Sayoun, the Minister of Interior valued the tangible support of friends in the United States, especially with regard to increasing the number of seats in the field of training and qualification for the cadres of the Ministry of Interior.
Major General Haidan stressed the ministry's interest in human rights issues and coordination with UN organizations of common interest.
For his part, the US Ambassador to our country, Stephen Wagen, expressed his happiness at his first visit to the city of Sayoun and his aspiration to enhance coordination and cooperation between the two countries in the security fields.
The US ambassador also praised the successes achieved by the Yemeni Coast Guard in seizing a number of weapons smuggling operations and contraband along the coastline of Yemen.
The meeting was attended from the US side by the Security Attaché and the Legal Attaché of the US Embassy, and from the Yemeni side by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for the Civil Services Sector, Major General Abdul Majid Al-Amri, and the Directors General of Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime.
