The General Department of Narcotics Control at the Ministry of Interior launched today the activities and activities of the International Day for Drug Control.
The events during the period from June 20-26 this year include awareness, rhetorical, artistic and sports activities and events under the slogan "Report the facts... Save lives... Let's all stand to confront drugs."
At the opening of the ceremony, the speech of the Minister of Interior, Major General Ibrahim Haidan, which was delivered on his behalf by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for the Civil Services Sector, Major General Abdul Majid Al-Amiri, emphasized the concerted efforts between the security services and society in the fight against drugs.
And the way to preserve the youth segment from falling into the ropes of drug dealers.
He praised the efforts of the security services in seizing a number of promoters and drug users during the last period, calling on parents to follow up on their children and take advantage of their free time so that they are not exploited by bad partners in promoting drugs.
Urging citizens to participate in the fight against drugs by reporting suspected cases and spreading advice among community members.
In turn, the Director of the General Administration of Narcotics Control, Brigadier General Nasser Al-Awash indicated that the inauguration will include a consultative meeting for the branches of the administration in the governorates of the Republic to come up with recommendations and proposals that help in strengthening the activity of combating the phenomenon and the methods and means of its spread through developing plans in cooperation and coordination with military and security units.
Noting that everyone bears the responsibility, redoubles efforts, and protects the country, youth and values ​​from the danger of drugs.
Pointing out that the campaign activities, which will continue until the end of this month, seek to highlight the dangers of drugs and educate citizens about them, in order to contribute with the security services in confronting the phenomenon and combating it in an integrated manner.
 The Assistant Director General of Narcotics Control, Colonel Adel Ayyash, gave a speech during which he addressed the administration's strategy in combating through two axes, the first being security efforts in investigating and controlling promoters and drug users, and the second through community awareness through various media.
He explained that the whole world is aware of the danger of drugs, so countries have sought to establish the International Narcotics Control Board, which gives permission to factories to circulate medicines and distribute them to countries to reduce the presence of narcotic substances that affect human health.
It is noteworthy that the consultative meeting of the anti-drug branches of the republic will discuss over two days a number of issues and procedures related to drug control at the national level.
