The Minister of Interior confirms the Ministry's interest in human rights issues

The Minister of Interior, Major General Ibrahim Haidan, stressed the ministry's interest in human rights issues and its keenness to cooperate with all concerned parties to protect human rights and promote the rule of law.
This came during a meeting today with the Minister of Interior, Deputy Chairman of the National Committee to Investigate Human Rights Violations, Judge Hussein Omar Al-Mashdali, and member of the Committee, Judge Ishraq Al-Maqtari.
During the meeting, Major General Haidan indicated the government's support for the work of the committee and the provision of all facilities for it to perform its tasks impartially and professionally, praising the efforts made by the committee since the beginning of its work in investigating violations and inspecting detention centers.
The Minister of Interior also discussed with the Deputy Chairman of the Committee the conditions of inmates in the branches of the Rehabilitation and Reform Authority in the liberated governorates, improving the conditions of a number of prisons, especially Al-Shabaka Prison in the city of Al-Turba, and the importance of establishing a new building for them, in addition to improving services in other prisons such as Al-Dali 'and Marib.
They also discussed the activation of accountability and internal control for some security personnel suspected of committing violations, and cooperation in raising the ongoing capabilities of the security staff.
For his part, the Vice-Chairman of the Committee expressed the need for continuous coordination and communication between the Committee and the Ministry of Interior in view of the commonalities between them to ensure the provision of the rights guaranteed to correctional inmates and detainees, the improvement of their environments and the implementation of national law
