First Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior participating in the International Conference to Strengthen International Cooperation against Drug Trafficking.

The First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Mohammed Salem bin Aboud Al-Sharif, participated in the International Conference to Enhance International Cooperation to Combat Drug Trafficking and Human Trafficking.
The conference is organized over three days in the capital of the Kingdom of Spain, Madrid , by the Spanish Police Academy in cooperation with the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences.
During his address to the Conference, the First Under-Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior stressed that the outcomes of the Conference should include many resolutions and recommendations aimed at combating the scourge of drugs, as they represent a major threat to the future of all countries and do not exclude anyone, regardless of his capabilities.
The Honorable Agent pointed out that combating drug trafficking and human trafficking requires the cooperation and concerted efforts of all countries, especially those with material, technical and knowledge capabilities, with slow-growing countries or those experiencing conflicts paying greater attention to combating.
Referring to the Republic of Yemen living since the ominous coup of 21 September 2014 and the Houthi terrorist militias' control of all the possibilities of official state institutions affected the decline in the fight against the scourge of drugs.
He showed that the Houthi militias made drugs a major source of funding for their war on the Yemenis and behind them Iran.
Explaining in this context that the security services in the liberated governorates seized many types of drugs, which were often destined for the Houthi group.
It uses them as a kind of weapon to supply its fighters fighting under the influence of this drug.
The First Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior informed the members of the conference that Yemen has a large coastline stretching from the border of the Sultanate of Oman in the Arabian Sea to the border of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the Red Sea with a length of 2500km.
It was noted that our country had made great strides before the coup in cooperation with the Saudi sister in the provision of examination devices and in the field of training and rehabilitation, along with the efforts of the competent United Nations organizations in the field of combating drug trafficking and human trafficking.
He explained that Yemen was a transit place for drugs smuggled from Iran or Pakistan and smuggled to the Arab Gulf countries.
Recently, however, with the Houthi militias overthrowing the regime, Yemen has become a place of transit and use, especially for hashish and al-Shabu.
The Honorable Undersecretary called on the Presidency of the Conference to define special items that impose on the world to stand by our country, especially since the State of Iran directly supports the smuggling of drugs and weapons to the Houthi group.
Citing the seizure of many ships by international forces in international waters in the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea.
The Honourable Under-Secretary-General reviewed Yemen's efforts in the fight against drugs and terrorism.

In conclusion, the First Under-Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior hoped that the conference would produce tangible results that would be applied on the ground, a world free of the scourge of drugs and humanity rooted in values and ethics.
