A training course on illegal fisheries in the Red Sea concluded today in the interim capital of Aden, as part of the project to secure the Red Sea sponsored by the International Organization of Interpol and its partner organizations, which targets six countries bordering the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The two-day course aimed to provide more than 24 participants representing the Coast Guard, the Customs Authority, the Maritime Affairs Authority, Criminal center, Forensics and the Port Police with information and knowledge in their field to enhance the capacity of national authorities and enhance cooperation and coordination among stakeholders in the field of illegal fishing and marine life.
At the closing ceremony attended by Brigadier Dr. Abdul Khaleq Mohammed Al-Salawi , Director General of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Interior, along with Captain Wadah Salem Farea Talib, Assistant Director General for Moral Guidance and Public Relations at the Ministry of Interior, and a number of leaders from the Ministry of Interior. They praised the role of Interpol and the parties involved in building the capacity of Yemeni staff to combat crime.
Dr. Al-Salawi stressed the importance of this training course, which will contribute to the development of the skills and knowledge of participants in their fields of work and daily tasks. According to the importance of organizing the fishing process in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden and other fishing sites. Pointing to the increasing importance of such courses based on the exposure of Yemeni territorial waters to piracy and illegal fishing, as our coasts and territorial waters have become exposed to great risks by unknown ships and boats, that exploit the circumstances our country is going through, which has won the attention of our political leadership and our good government, and with the active follow-up of His Excellency the Minister of Interior and the Presidency of the Security Services and others.
The closing ceremony culminated in the distribution of certificates of appreciation to the participants of the course.
